Richard Brown’s Publications
Richard C. Brown, Co-Chair of the Department of Contemplative Education, founded the Contemplative Education Department at Naropa University in 1990. Brown has consulted on three continents with educational organizations about how to bring mindfulness and contemplative education to teachers and schools. Among Brown’s publications are several that describe contemplative education:
"Inner to Outer: The Development of Contemplative Pedagogy" is Brown’s chapter from a forthcoming book.
"Taming Emotion: Tibetan Meditation in Teacher Education" is an article Brown authored that was included in Nurturing Our Wholeness: Perspectives on Spirituality in Education, edited by John P. Miller and Yoshi Nakagawa (Foundation for Educational Renewal, 2002).
"The Teacher As Contemplative Observer" appeared in Educational Leadership, which was published by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, December 1998/ January 1999.
