Exceptions

Building use outside of the hours posted here must be supervised by staff or core faculty. If you have questions about exceptions to building hours, please contact your academic department’s administrator.

Academic classes and any special events, conferences, etc., falling outside these hours need to be approved BEFORE the events are publicized. Otherwise, the request may be denied and buildings may not be accessible.

Specific Dates: Semesters, holidays, breaks and practice days

General notes:

• Facilities are closed during holidays and winter break.
• Facilities hours during spring break are the same as "Intersession" hours above.
• Facilities are opened for limited use on Practice Days.

Monday, May 18–Monday, July 13, 2009: Summer Academic Session Hours
(“During Semester” hours apply)

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED):

• Memorial Day Weekend Holiday: Saturday, May 23–Monday, May 25, 2009 (first weekend of session)
• Fourth of July Holiday: Friday, July 3 AND Saturday, July 4, 2009 (Summer Writing Program and Contemplative Education on-site will continue)

Tuesday, July 14 –Sunday, August 23, 2009: Intersession
(“Between Semesters” hours apply)

New student orientation & registration Mon, Aug 17- Fri, Aug 21
(Intersession hours apply, except for Orientation events, by arrangement with Safety and Security)

Monday, August 24–Friday, December 11, 2009: Fall Semester
First day of classes Monday, Aug 24 / Last day of classes Friday, Dec 11

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED) and Practice Days (Limited Hours):

• Labor Day holiday Saturday Sept 5 – Monday Sept 7 (no classes, campuses closed)
  NOTE: This is the first weekend of the semester
• Community Practice Day Tuesday Oct 13 (no classes, offices closed)
• Thanksgiving holiday Thursday Nov 26 – Sunday Nov 29 (no classes, campuses closed)

NOTE: Saturday, Dec 12 is the first day of Intersession.
Buildings will be closed except for those in use for the ceremony honoring fall graduates, by arrangement with Safety & Security.

Saturday December 12, 2009– Sunday January 10, 2010: Winter Intersession

• Winter Holiday Break:

Note that buildings will be closed the weekend of Saturday January 2 and Sunday January 3, except for early orientation events, if any, scheduled in advance with Safety & Security.

• New Student Orientation & Registration: Monday, Jan 4 – Friday, Jan 8:
  Intersession hours apply, exceptions only for Orientation events, by arrangement with Safety & Security.

Monday, January 11 – Friday, May 5, 2010: Spring Semester
Regular semester hours apply
First day of classes Monday, January 11
Last day of classes Wednesday, May 5
Thurs May 6 & Fri May 7: buildings close early if not needed for makeup days

Holidays (Campuses CLOSED) and Practice Days (Limited Hours):

• Martin Luther King Day Monday January 18 (no classes, campuses closed)
• Shambhala Day (Observed) Monday February 15 (Campuses CLOSED, except for celebration activities scheduled with Safety and Security)
• Community Practice Day Tuesday March 2 (no classes, offices closed)
• Spring Break Saturday March 20 - Sunday March 28 Intersession hours apply

NOTE: Saturday, May 8 is Commencement and first day of Intersession.
Buildings will be closed except for those in use for any commencement related events scheduled in advance with Safety and Security.
