Paramita Campus Controlled Access
Distribution schedule and
Contact Information
To support the needs of students, the Paramita Campus has been open when there are very few, if any, Naropa community members present. To increase your safety,we have installed a controlled access system.
The Controlled Access System and How It Will Affect Your Campus Access
During times of low use, in particular at 6:30 p.m. weekday evenings and all day Saturday and Sunday, building access will be limited to those with fobs. These electronic credentials (fobs) will be issued to staff and faculty through the academic department administrators and to students on site by RL Security, Naropa University’s security vendor.
- Limited access hours apply during fall and spring semesters and the summer academic session.
- During intersession periods and spring break, the building is only open during business hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays).
- The standard building hours for community use will remain the same (see Building Hours). Fobs will not allow access to the building outside of these hours, except for Paramita staff and ranked faculty.
- Some general Naropa staff and service personnel will have 24-hour access including maintenance, custodial, event managers and security.
- During limited access hours, the main south entrance will have a fob reader and will unlock for fobs with the correct access level.
- There will also be an additional fob reader at the west entrance for those who are mobility impaired. If you have a disability and need access at the west (ADA/ assisted) door, please contact Naropa Safety and Security (or RL Security if they are on site) so that your fob will work at this door.
- There will be another fob reader on the north door, to re-enter the building from the new Paramita Green.
- Please see “Credential Receipt and Agreement” for further information and conditions.
Please be responsible for the safety of yourself and others. Do not let people in if you do not know that they have legitimate business in the building. You should also consider your personal safety limits. Call Naropa Safety and Security as soon as you can if there is a suspicious situation or if you feel you have to let someone in that you don’t trust.
Please continue to use reasonable caution when exiting the building and in the parking lots.
Please do not prop doors open. All exit doors may be used to leave the building. If any doors are propped open, an alarm will sound and a notification will be sent to Naropa Safety and Security. While having to enter only through one door may be somewhat inconvenient, it will make the building safer for everyone who uses it.
Digital video recording will be integrated with the controlled access system. Video will not be actively monitored at this time. Images recorded may be accessed only through the Safety and Security Manager, Facilities Director, or Vice President of Operations. Images recorded will only be accessed for the investigation of a safety threat, a security incident, or prohibited conduct.
Fob Distribution and Contact Information
If you have any general questions about this system and how it may affect your use of the building, please send an email to Safety and Security Manager Steve Jewell.
