Work-Study

The Federal College Work-Study Program (CWSP) and Naropa Student Employment Program (NSEP) are collectively referred to as "work-study" and are administered by the Department of Human Resources in conjunction with the financial aid office. The Naropa Student Employment Program (NSEP) is a university-funded work program available to international students who qualify through the Financial Aid Office. The Federal College Work-Study Program (CWSP) is a federally funded work program.

In order to participate in the work-study program, you must have received a CWSP or NSEP award as part of your financial aid package. Also, you must have admitted to a specific academic program, and must be enrolled in 6 credit hours semester.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing administrative support and general service to the Academic Affairs Department and customer service to staff, faculty and other constituents of Naropa University

Job Duties: 

  • General alpha and numerical filing

  • Xeroxing and scanning documents.
  • Assisting department with mass mailings, including copying documents, folding documents, stuffing envelopes, and sealing & mailing envelopes.

  • General cleaning duties as needed.

Job Summary: The Admissions Counselor Interns are responsible for supporting the Admission Counselors, Assistant Director, or Associate Director with their daily functions. Primary functions will be administrative in nature. During travel season the Counselor Interns will assist in travel planning. This position serves as an entry into the admissions and student counselor fields.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for learning the requirements and admissions processes for the academic departments held by the counselor.
  • Responsible for learning the admissions CARS module and letter mail merge system.
  • Responsible for biographical and document tracking data entry into the CARS system.
  • Responsible for accept, denial, wait list and deferral letter production.
  • Responsible for calling and emailing prospective students in order to ascertain level of interest in Naropa and gather data.
  • Participation in phone-o-thons and online chats.
  • Filing, mailings, copying and other supportive office functions.

Job Summary: The Data Entry Intern reports directly to the Inquiry and Technology Coordinator and is responsible for entering information regarding prospective students into the CARS data base. Inquires arrive via phone, email, letter, web and outside agencies. The Data Entry Intern will also be responsible for preparing lead data files for uploading into CARS, reformatting data from excel and maintaining the data standards of the university.   

Job Duties:

  • Maintain knowledge of all Naropa programs and admissions policies so as to input data correctly into the CARS system.
  • Enter inquiries into CARS system based on university-approved data standards.  Inquiries arrive via phone, email, mail, disc, web, and in Excel spreadsheets from outside agencies such as advertisers and guidebooks.
  • Prepare lead data files for uploading into CARS including reformatting from excel.
  • Manage the integrity of the inquiry data base including training and supervision of work study and office staff regarding the university and USPS data standards. 
  • Responsible for updating addresses and duplicate data IDs.
  • Printing of online applications

Job Summary: This position must be filled by a graduate student in the Religious Studies Department. The Religious Studies Admissions Coordinator is a liaison between the Office of Admissions and the Department of Religious Studies. The primary function is to boost enrollments via outreach as well as coordinate the application review process. Primary functions in the fall semester include working with the Assistant Director of Admissions to identify projects that will increase the conversion of inquiries into applications via phone calling, online chats, emails and meeting with student visitors. The job will also include data entry into the CARS system. Primary functions in the spring semester will include working with applications, scheduling interviews with the faculty, tracking the interview process and communicating with the applicants as to the status of their application. Applicants must have strong work ethic, flexibility, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently. The position serves as an entry into the admissions and student counselor fields.

Job Summary: The Community Studies Center is looking for a new Americorps Coordinator to begin immediately.  Americorps is a federally-funded program that provides educational grant support to students who participate in volunteer and civic work in their communities.  Naropa’s Americorps program is funded through grantee agencies UCAN Serve/Colorado Campus Compact, and typically enrolls 40 Americorps members per school year.   The new Americorps Coordinator will work to increase and sustain Naropa students’ participation in Americorps and Colorado Campus Compact; maintain a database of Americorps members; build and maintain Community Studies’ existing Community Partnerships; and build new community partnerships.  Hours and schedules are flexible and to be negotiated with the Director of Community Studies. 

Job Duties:

  • Recruit and enroll new Americorps members on campus
  • Maintain and improve contact with and supporting existing Americorps members throughout their term of service
  • Maintain a database of Americorps members and their hours
  • Guide Americorps members through the exit process so that they access their awards
  • Maintain and improve contact with the Americorps UCAN Serve Program office at Regis University, Denver.
  • Engage with community non-profit, educational, and government organizations
  • Engage with Naropa students and assisting them in civic engagement and volunteerism
  • Research and prepare grant, budget, marketing, and publicity materials

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing administrative support and customer service for the registration office.

Job Duties may include:

  • Organizational: Filing Grades. Filing Course Scheduling Forms, orientation document preparation, other filing, copying and document prep as needed.  Make copies for meetings, for student files (Leave of Absence, Withdrawal, Waitlist and other notification letters), information distribution.
  • Mailings and Communications: Print letters from exception to policy database, assist with mailings regarding waitlist. Prepare transcripts and diploma mailers for post graduation mailing. Prepare and organize mailings to faculty regarding web grading
  • Database upkeep: Data entry to Exceptions Database. Assist in proofing and crosscheck of e-college system.
  • Course Scheduling: Ongoing contact with departments to obtain course descriptions, update in CARS, track missing descriptions. Mailings to departments regarding course schedule as needed.  Proof contact hours.
  • Customer  Service:  Assist students, faculty and staff with basic web registration questions.  Assist set-up of spring and fall orientations. Help staff computer lab and address student concerns during spring and fall pre registration period.
  • Policy: Maintain basic understanding of registration policy and procedure, FERPA laws and academic policy.
  • All duties appropriate for department included in Level I job description.
  • Research projects.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Student must be awarded work/study hours by the Financial Aid office.
  • Student must demonstrate mastery of all skills included in the Level I job description, either through prior experience outside of Naropa or through exposure/experience in a Naropa Level I position.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing general clerical support to the Environmental Studies department and faculty.

Job Duties:

    • Dusts faculty offices and department furniture on a weekly basis
    • Maintains kitchen area; washes dishes, cleans kitchen surfaces in conjunction with BA Psych work study
    • Regularly checks all plants and waters them as needed
  • Interacts with faculty, staff, and other students in a professional manner.
  • Performs additional specific duties as assigned by faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail, good verbal and written communication skills, initiative, professionalism, and enthusiasm for learning are required
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. in office supplies. Position requires ability to climb stairs.

Job Summary: Naropa University’s School of Extended Studies provides personal enrichment and professional development courses through evening lectures, weekend workshops and lectures.  The work study in this position provides customer service for students inquiring about the programs by returning phone call and email inquiries. Hours are flexible and will generally be during normal business hours.  Sometimes evening and weekend work will be available.  The work study may have opportunities to attend some of the events sponsored by Extended Studies.

Job Duties:

  • Help setup and tear down for events
  • May be asked to help with front of house or box office duties for evening events 
  • Assist with marketing duties such as posting ES events on online calendars or distributing post cards around Boulder

Qualifications:

Job Summary:

The housing work-study plays an integral role in the life of the Snow Lion Community. The work-study will serve a vital role in servicing the administrative and some programming aspects Snow Lion Student Housing. Work preformed will include: basic clerical tasks, providing community resources, maintenance of databases, and other tasks as assigned. Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing general administrative support to the Office for Undergraduate Education/Core Curriculum and receiving visitors to the Little House offices.

Job Duties:

Job Summary: The ROOT office support position includes both office and trip support.  This includes holding consistent office hours and proactively supporting office organization. Working with outdoor gear is a major component of this job.

Job Duties:

  • Attendance at weekly staff meetings (usually last 2 hours)
  • Check gear out/in to students and faculty
  • Support students with the gear and trip needs
  • Communicate office needs to ROOT management
  • General office maintenance including filing, cleaning and organizing
  • Assist with gear maintenance, tracking, inventory, and repair
  • Create advertisements for trips and post around all campuses.
  • Be a positive role model and inspire community engagement
  • Assist in the coordination of trips with the potential of attending them

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm and interest in the outdoors. Prefer experience with outdoor gear.
  • Ability to self-direct and complete assigned tasks with little supervision

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing administrative support and customer service for the financial aid office.

Job Duties:

  • Organizational: General alpha and numerical filing. Coordinate and file all confidential student financial information, copying and document prep as needed.  Organizing annual archiving/shredding of old files.  Keep track of inventory of forms and make copies when needed.  Operate standard office equipment, including copy & fax machine.
  • Mailings and Communications: Coordinate mass mailings such as student award packets and other correspondence to students who are missing information, including copying documents, folding documents, printing labels, stuffing envelopes, and sealing & mailing envelopes.  Mail letters and make phone calls to students who are missing documentation.  Update forms and create new forms as necessary.
  • Customer Service:  Assist students, parents, faculty and staff with basic and some advanced financial aid questions. 
  • Policy: Maintain basic understanding of financial aid policy and procedure, FERPA
  • Database: Access confidential student financial information from university’s integrated database as well as from lenders and Department of Education databases to provide information to students via mail and phone. Download information from lender and guarantor databases and enter information into university database.
  • Additional specific departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Student must be awarded work/study hours by the Financial Aid office.
  • Student must demonstrate mastery of all skills included in the Level I job description, either through prior experience outside of Naropa or through exposure/experience in a Naropa Level I position.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including preparation of basic documents. 
  • Basic writing & editing, in English including simple development of documents, basic proofreading, and editing.
  • Intermediate office skills, including growing knowledge of computer and office equipment including the ability to generally interface with and use the Internet.
  • Demonstration of leadership within the department through initiative, accountability, and responsibility.

Job Summary:

  • Term One: apprentices will rotate stage crew positions of assistant stage manager, light board operator, sound board operator, electrics and backstage crew positions.
  • Term Two: apprentices will select an area of focus in lighting, sound, stage management or videography.
  • Term Three: apprentices will continue concentration on a selected focus and senior apprentices will be encouraged to develop well-rounded production management skills. Working hours in this term will include organizational and/or design preparation time as well as in-theater working time.
  • Term Four: apprentices will be asked to serve as Production Managers, coordinating and running a full stage production (i.e. theater, music or dance concert) from start to finish (i.e. initial design, planning and coordination through production and strike). Often we will offer a senior apprentice a position on the Summer Performance Arts Series.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing general and specific service to the University’s Performing Arts Department which includes both the MFA and BFA. Full commitment to the job is required for the entire academic year.

Job Duties:

  • Assisting Admin Director and/or Production Manager with supervision of student volunteers for set-up and strike for all performances and department events, including moving furniture or set items, creating the performance or event space, checking with guest artists and faculty directors that any immediate needs are met at the event, and assist with overall attention to detail to insure a smooth event occurs.
  • Following up with student volunteers to confirm their presence at the assigned performance date.
  • Assisting Production Coordinator and/or Technical Director with light carpentry or light hang as needed for each production.
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of all Performing Arts studios and surrounding areas in preparation for daily classes: sweeping, removing unnecessary items, bringing order to the space, returning/replacing cushions to all rooms, cleaning of classroom equipment as needed, clearing halls and fire exits of extraneous material and garbage. This must be completed by the beginning of classes each day, Monday- Friday.  
  • Check that all department equipment is in good order and in the proper storage area. Report any problems to AD and follow up with vendors for repairs or replacements.
  • Act as student liaison to department administration regarding equipment and studio conditions.
  • Supervise the department’s compliance with the University’s Zero Waste initiative.
  • General interface with the University’s constituents as needed: Maintenance Crew, Grounds Crew, Recycling Crew, PAC crew, Administration, and any outside production partners. 
  • Assist in creating an uplifted University environment by demonstrating care for our studio spaces and property and regularly communicating such an attitude with students.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Student must be awarded work/study hours by the Financial Aid office in order to fill this position.
  • Student must demonstrate mastery of all skills included in the Level I job description, either through prior experience outside of Naropa or through exposure/experience in a Naropa Level I position. A resume noting previous supervisory production or events experience is requested.
  • Attention to detail, organization, good attendance, willingness to learn, and willingness to work hard are required skills.  Basic problem solving skills and creativity desired.
  • Candidates must demonstrate good personal hygiene and comply with the dress code of the department.
  • Able to regularly lift up to 75 lbs.  Position may require hefting or carrying equipment, stage props or scenery, food, furniture, recycling, ice, or other heavy objects related to the position duties.  Position may require standing or sitting for long periods of time.  Position may involve use of cleaning solvents, clearing away garbage, and/or working out-of-doors.  Position may require incumbent to climb stairs, depending on location.

Job Summary: This Level II position requires a graduate student with excellent communication skills. This person is primarily responsible for providing administrative support and customer service to the students, staff, and faculty of the TCP Department, as well as to prospective students and other visitors.

Job Duties:

  • TCP Front Desk reception. Greeting visitors and students.
  • Answering telephone. Checking email.
  • Extensive data entry, word processing and internet usage.
  • Helping maintain an organized and efficient front desk.
  • Assisting with the admissions process. Communicating with prospective students.
  • Scheduling interviews.

Job Summary: This position assists in the managing and enforcing all aspects of transportation and parking at the University while improving, researching and promoting the use of alternative forms of transportation. This position is in the Facilities department and reports to the Transportation Coordinator.

Job Duties:

  • Manage parking permit purchase process
  • Be an advocate to the community about alternative vehicular fuels and vehicular options. Promote all means and aspects of alternative transportation options for the Naropa community.
  • Monitor parking lots on Arapahoe Campus for improperly parked vehicles
  • Write Tickets as needed
  • Manage Naropa’s Fleet Vehicles, including two bio-diesel cars.
  • Assist in research and development of alternative transportation at Naropa University.
  • Help prepare regularly scheduled deposits
  • Update and manage all Transportation databases in Excel
  • Update and stock the Bus Schedules at each Information Kiosk.
  • General maintenance of office to include organization of office supplies, desk, filing cabinets and computer files
  • Answer phone and record questions, concerns, complaints and grievances regarding transportation policies

Minimum Qualifications:

Specific Job Duties Include:

  • Assist in the training of newly hired employees
  • Prepare and drop off weekly deposits to business and finance, unsupervised and in a reliable fashion
  • Manage Fleet Vehicles
    • Drop off and pick up fleet vehicles at the appropriate vendor
    • Schedule routine preventative maintenance
    • Perform new driver training and update Fleet Driver List
  • Call in orders to transportation vendors as directed by the Transportation Coordinator

General Job Duties Include:

  • Assist department with printing, photocopying, folding flyers, and mailings
  • Daily face-to-face and professional interface with University constituents
  • General maintenance of office to include organization of office supplies, desk, filing cabinets and computer files
  • Monitor parking lots on Arapahoe Campus for improperly parked vehicles
    • Write Tickets as needed
    • Update Violation Log with new violations, waived and paid violations
    • Print  updated and  sorted Violation Log

    • Receive and record cash, check and credit card transactions
    • Keeping track of Pre-Tax payment option
    • Alert Transportation Coordinator when more permits are needed
    • Restock switchboard permit supply
  • Answer phone and record questions, concerns, complaints and grievances regarding transportation policies
  • Help prepare regularly scheduled deposits
    • Collect deposits from Switchboard and Bike Shack
    • File and sort through Budget filing cabinet
    • Fleet Vehicle Inventory

    • Bike Fleet Inventory
  • Update and stock the Bus Schedules at each Information Kiosk.  Including Arapahoe (2), Sangha, Nalanda, Paramita, and Snow lion.
    • Make regular trips to satellite campuses to update Kiosks as needed
  • Manage Naropa’s Fleet Vehicles, including two bio-diesel cars.
    • Perform regular cleaning, and fuel levels checks.
    • Perform Monthly and Semester equipment checks
  • Be available in person, by phone or by radio to the Transportation Coordinator at all times to respond to special tasks as needed.

Position Title: Studio and Photo Lab Assistant, Level I

Job Summary: The Work Study Studio and Photo Lab Manager assists with the physical operation of the Visual Arts studios, with special emphasis on facilities maintenance, organization, equipment maintenance, policies, procedures, and postings. Work-study will also help with aspects of the bi-annual student show.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and administer the cleanliness and orderliness of the Visual Arts studios including; sinks, floors, tables, closets, etc.
  • Responsible for organization of materials and equipment in the Visual Arts studios.
  • Responsible for creating new systems of organization where needed for efficiency and aesthetics.
  • Responsible for monitoring the maintenance of all of the equipment in the Visual Arts studios.
  • Responsible for the posting of policies, procedures having to do with the Visual Arts studios as directed by the Administrative Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Student must be awarded work-study hours by the financial aid office.
  • No prior experience is needed; experience in a darkroom in particular or an art studio is helpful.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliable, a willingness to learn, dependable, able to multi-task and work independently without direct supervision.
