7th Annual Wilderness Therapy Symposium
September 11–13, 2009
The Wilderness Therapy Symposium at Naropa University brings together clinicians, field instructors, rites of passage guides, referring professionals, university professors, students and personnel from residential programs. The interactive, experiential workshops encourage intensive collaboration between the fields of adventure therapy, ecopsychology and clinical psychology. Skills, knowledge and ideas are shared in an open and safe atmosphere that promotes a deep level of sharing among a wide variety of professionals, scholars and programs. This year the Symposium will be held at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel near downtown Boulder. See www.wildernesstherapysymposium.org for more information.

Keynote Speaker: David Abram
Walking Into the Depths of a Breathing Planet
Friday, September 11, 2009 7 p.m
David Abram was
named by the Utne Reader as one of a hundred visionaries
currently transforming the world. Abram has been the recipient
of numerous honors, including fellowships from the Rockefeller
and Watson Foundations. In 2005, David was invited to give the
keynote address for the United Nations “World Environment
Week.” David’s work engages the ecological depths of
the imagination, exploring the ways in which sensory perception, poetics and wonder
inform our relation with the animate earth. His writings have been seminal for the now burgeoning field of ecopsychology, as well as for the ecological study of language and
the new discipline of ecological literary criticism. |
