Brooke Gessay McNamara is inspired by deep study of movement, deep study of stillness, and full play in their interplay. She is empowered as a Dharma Holder in the Zen Buddhist lineage of Diane Musho Hamilton, Sensei, and also teaches on faculty in Dance at CU Boulder and in Yogic Studies at Naropa University. Brooke is a devotee of the teachings of her baby son, Lundin, and enjoys all manner of kid's play. A dancer since the age of four, she has danced professionally for over a decade and had the privilege of touring throughout the US, and to Mexico, China, Vietnam, Italy, and Lithuania. Yoga and Meditation have been touchstones of wellness and wakefulness since Brooke was a teen, and practice/training with Janet Stone, River Cummings, Sofia Diaz, Nataraja Kallio, and Diane Hamilton influence and flavor her teaching. Brooke has also worked extensively with kids in Creative Dance and Yoga through Performing Arts Workshop (San Francisco), The Wellness Initiative (Boulder), and through her own business, FreeBird Dance & Yoga, LLC (www.FreeBirdDanceAndYoga.com). She trained as a Life Coach with Dave Ellis through Falling Awake, and works with private clients in Boulder and throughout the US in Yoga and Embodiment/Life Coaching. She is honored by the privilege of teaching yoga at Naropa University.
