Steve Sachs is a Head Teacher at Alaya Preschool, Naropa’s lab school for early childhood education.  A Montessori teacher of  25 years, Steve recently co-founded Eastern Sun Academy, a private elementary school in contemplative education.  He was pivotal in the development of a new model for education highlighting the three journeys of human development: intelligence, compassion, and confidence.  Steve has taught numerous parenting classes, was the chairperson of the Family Council at the Boulder Shambhala Center for many years,  and is currently the Director for Societal Health and Well-being at Marpa House, an urban residential retreat center in Boulder.
