Naropa University Elects Jerry Colonna as Chair of Board of Trustees
Jerry Colonna, one of Worth Magazine's "25 Most Generous Young Americans," is renowned for his work as social entrepreneur, certified professional coach, and nonprofit advisor.
Boulder, Colo. (October 4, 2012) - Naropa University announces that the Board of Trustees has elected Jerry Colonna as the university's new Chair of the Board, effective October 2012. Mr. Colonna will be replacing longtime board chair Marty Janowitz, who had stepped in as interim chair during the recent presidential search process. Mr. Janowitz was acknowledged for his visionary leadership and has agreed to remain on the board.

Jerry Colonna is a certified professional coach who helps clients design a more conscious life and career and established his coaching practice in 2007. He was a partner with JPMorgan Partners (JPMP) until 2002; the same year he was named co-executive director of NYC2012, which represented the city's efforts to host the 2012 Olympic Games. In 2001, he worked with The Partnership for the City of New York to help launch the Financial Recovery Fund, a grants program for small businesses impacted by the attacks on the World Trade Center. He co-founded the investment program Flatiron in 1996. He joined his first venture firm, CMG@Ventures L.P. in 1995 as a founding partner. Prior, he worked for ten years for CMP Media Inc. Colonna also serves as a director, trustee or advisor to a number of for-profit and nonprofit organizations. He was named to Upside Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people of the new economy, Forbes ASAP's list of the best VCs in the country, and Worth's list of the 25 most generous young Americans. Jerry, who lives in New York, is now a Boulder homeowner and plans to split his time between New York and Boulder.

Along with the election of Jerry Colonna as Chair, the Board's Executive Committee will now consist of Jim Rosen, Vice Chair; Lynne Katzmann, Secretary; Thomas Hast, Treasurer; and Marty Janowitz, Immediate Past Chair. The Board also formally voted Nicholas Ballinger as the Student Trustee, Deb Piranian as the Faculty Trustee, and elected new Board member Diane Israel.
