Carolyn Jacobs is the Dean of Smith College School for Social Work and Elizabeth Marting Treuhaft Professor. Dr. Jacobs has had a long and distinguished history with Smith College. She originally joined the school as a member of the faculty, primarily teaching within the research and practice sequences of the School for Social Work. Her areas of professional interest include religion and spirituality in social work practice, social work research, and organizational behavior. She became the Dean seven years ago. Her leadership has included an ongoing commitment to clinical excellence, increased student access, pedagogical diversity, and developing clinicians trained to respond to the mental health needs of returning soldiers. Dean Jacobs has also invited numerous presenters to Smith College on related topics, and has forged relationships between the School and VA centers across the country.
