Undergraduate Internship Requirements

The internship is a minimum of 60 hours on-site over the course of one semester. Students must have regular oversight from an on-site supervisor to support their learning. Students will be enrolled in an internship course at Naropa University which includes faculty supervision. The course will also provide professional training to complement the internship experience.

Internship Overview

The Undergraduate Internship offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the practical means of applying their knowledge learned throughout their education to organizations that meet their interests and career goals. Students can also begin to build their professional network and create and deepen connections within their community.

Students secure internships with organizations that require a range of skills such as developing professional helping relationships, grassroots organizing, coalition building, policy research, grant-writing, media development, and fundraising, and more. Students may pursue internships that build on prior experience or pursue a new direction.

Internship placements range from community-based opportunities to restorative justice initiatives to educational organizations working on issues of social justice, peace, human rights, mental health, and environmental sustainability. The internship culminates in presentations to the community in which students bring back new knowledge and skills to the Naropa community.
