Setting up a new library account

If you are new to Naropa, or have never used the library, and would like to set up a library account through email, please follow these instructions:

Contact us through your Naropa email account as it is university policy.

Email library@naropa.edu

In the body of the email include:

  • First and last name

  • Phone number

  • Student/Naropa email address

  • Community designation: undergraduate, graduate, low-residency, staff, faculty

  • Physical address

  • Student/Naropa ID number

  • A photo of your Student/Naropa ID card

After we have created your library account you will receive an email message prompting you to create a password for your library account.

Your library username and password is for logging into your library account via our Discovery catalog.

The link to our catalog, to which you may log in with that username and password is: https://naropauniversity.on.worldcat.org/discovery

To log in, simply look in the upper right hand corner of the page, and you will see the Sign In link. This will allow you to place physical materials on hold and renew your own physical items if needed.

If you are a distance student, and you place materials on hold, please send us a reminder email to: library@naropa.edu, so that we will be aware that we need to send you your items.

Any items that we send to you will need to be returned to us, so please be aware you will be responsible for the return shipping costs.

You do not have to be logged into the catalog to use it to search for items. If you need to access any electronic materials (including eBooks, and eJournals, etc.) in our system, you will use your Naropa network single sign-on username and password (the same thing you use for your email, Canvas courses, MyNaropa, etc.)

  • Search for the item you would like to place on hold in Library Discovery Catalog
  • When you have found the item, click on the title of the item to go into the item record page
  • From there, to the right you will see the Place Hold button—click on it
  • You will be prompted to sign in—sign in with your library account username and password
  • Choose your hold options and click the Submit button—your item is now on hold
  • If you cannot sign in, please contact library@naropa.edu to receive help getting your account in working order and placing items on hold
  • You will receive email notifications when your items are available

You will receive email notifications when your items are ready to be picked up

  • Remember your Naropa ID—library buildings are accessible only with ID and we need ID to check out your library materials
  •
  • Bring a backpack or tote if you are picking up multiple items
  •
  • Email library@naropa.edu with any questions

Please place all library items you wish to return into a library book drop box located at either Arapahoe Campus or Nalanda Campus.

  • Allen Ginsberg Library, Arapahoe Campus, book drop is located just outside the main doors to the library building
  •
  • Nalanda Arts and Psychology Library, Nalanda Campus, has two book drops: one outside just to the left of the back northwest entrance to the building and then another just outside the library on the second floor

The lobby printer/copier and Reading Room in the Allen Ginsberg Library building are accessible with your Naropa ID card during open campus building hours. The printers/copiers at Nalanda are accessible with your Naropa ID card during open campus building hours.

For questions regarding access to Naropa University computer labs or to coordinate access, please contact the current Facilities Office Manager & Safety Coordinator, as listed on the Campus Safety page.

Please refer to emails from Campus Safety & Facilities personnel regarding campus closures to get the most up-to-date news of on-campus building hours. You may also visit the Campus Safety page on the Naropa website. The Naropa facilities on-call phone number is 720-309-8211.

Please contact IT at helpdesk@naropa.edu. You can also visit the Naropa University IT Helpdesk. If you are on campus, the Business Service Center in the basement of the Lincoln building may be able to help you.

The Critical Consciousness Collection is housed in the Allen Ginsberg Library and was formerly located in the Center for Culture, Identity, & Social Justice on the Arapahoe campus. It reflects Naropa’s commitment to social justice and exists in order to further the community’s understanding of systems of oppression and privilege. Offering a diverse array of reading materials (on race, class, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, and more), this collection shifts the normative story by centering voices and perspectives that are often marginalized in society. As such, the collection is always expanding, and recommendations are welcome! (Link to CCC list coming soon!)

The Naropa Difference

How is Naropa different from other universities? At Naropa, a liberal arts education balances rigorous academics with powerful interpersonal skills and self-awareness to educate the whole person. Naropa’s contemplative approach is inspired by Buddhist philosophy and the conviction that we can build a diverse, contemplative, enlightened society when we have transformed education to affirm the basic goodness of every person.

About Naropa

Located in Boulder, Colorado, Naropa University is a Buddhist-inspired, nonsectarian liberal arts university that is recognized as the birthplace of the mindfulness movement. Naropa offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that emphasize professional and personal growth, intellectual development, and cultivating compassion.
