Naropa Spring Meditation Practice Retreat

All are welcome to the Naropa Spring Meditation Practice Retreat

March 23 to March 29
Shambhala Hall—2nd floor Lincoln Building – Arapahoe Campus

What better way to relax during your spring break? Give your thoughts and concerns a chance to be released and liberated in the open expanse of the sky while your body settles on our supportive and nourishing ground.

Come make friends with your body, your heart and your spirit during this time of quiet practice with members of the Naropa community.

The focus of the retreat will be shamatha/vipashyana meditation practice with periods of walking, contemplative movement, outdoor contemplations and heart circle reflections.

Daily schedule: Sunday March 23 – through Saturday, March 29

—9:00 am–12:15 pm: meditation session
—12:15–2:00 pm: lunch break
—2:00-3:45 pm: meditation session
—3:45–4:15 pm: tea break
—4:15-5:30 pm: meditation session
—5:30 pm: heart circle reflection and closing

This retreat will fulfill the group retreat requirement for the Master of Divinity and for the Mindfulness Instructor Training programs.

All Naropa faculty and staff, alumnx, and current students are welcome to attend. The retreat is free of charge. You may attend the full retreat or a part you wish but we ask  that you come for a full session either morning or afternoon in order to maintain a good container for the participants. Please bring a snack to share or a donation of any amount is most appreciated.

Current Naropa students please register for REL651. Free of charge. Giovannina Jobson is a faculty member in the Master of Divinity program. She is a Buddhist minister (Upadhyaya) and an experienced retreat leader.

Naropa Campuses Closed on Friday, March 15, 2024

Due to adverse weather conditions, all Naropa campuses will be closed Friday, March 15, 2024.  All classes that require a physical presence on campus will be canceled. All online and low-residency programs are to meet as scheduled.

Based on the current weather forecast, the Healing with the Ancestors Talk & Breeze of Simplicity program scheduled for Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday will be held as planned.

Staff that do not work remotely or are scheduled to work on campus, can work remotely. Staff that routinely work remotely are expected to continue to do so.

As a reminder, notifications will be sent by e-mail and the LiveSafe app.  

Regardless of Naropa University’s decision, if you ever believe the weather conditions are unsafe, please contact your supervisor and professors.  Naropa University trusts you to make thoughtful and wise decisions based on the conditions and situation in which you find yourself in.
