Lorenzo González has been a theatre performer, director, and educator for thirty years. He is currently an Associate Professor at Naropa University, where he has served as chair of the BFA in Performance and the MFA in Theater: Contemporary Performance programs. Prior to Naropa, he was a Professor of Practice at Tulane University and has taught at institutions including UCLA, Stanford, and the University of Iowa. González has also worked with the Los Angeles Unified School District, the Center Theatre Group, and various youth organizations, focusing on arts education and community engagement.
As a performer and director, González has collaborated with El Centro Su Teatro, LOCAL Theater Co., and Motus Theater. His extensive experience includes performances and directing credits at prominent venues such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the REDCAT at Disney Hall. His recent directorial projects include Anne Carson’s An Oresteia and Antigone. González earned his MFA from the University of Delaware’s Professional Theatre Training Program and is a Fitzmaurice Voicework Associate Teacher.
